Non-Overrated Tourist Attractions – Sydney Opera House

SYDNEYOPERAHOUSE-ALISONINWONDERLAND

Another non-overrated tourist attraction in my opinion is the Sydney Opera House. The Opera House had always been very intriguing to me, partly because it looked so interesting architecturally but also because it was on the other side of the world and I’d always wanted to go. When I finally got the chance to go it wasn’t a let down at all. I didn’t see a show but sitting at the restaurant beside it was enough. My friend and I were drinking the cheapest beers on tap and we still felt classy. This is a tourist attraction that you can enjoy from many angles. There is no waiting in line to see it, it takes no time to get there because most of the trains stop there and you can drink while visiting..which is always a plus.

Non-Overrated Tourist Attractions – Eiffel Tower

EIFFELTOWER-ALISONINWONDERLAND

There are many tourist attractions I really hate. Times Square, I’m looking at you. However, there are a few that I love with all my heart.

The first being the Eiffel Tower in Paris. There are a thousand pictures of it already and the pictures that I take of it whenever I go there are always the same but I just can’t help it.

The best time to go in my opinion is the fall. Paris in the fall is like being in a movie. Pack a picnic (cheese, wine and crème brûlée for dessert) and go sit in the grass and wait for it to get dark. Right at dusk the lights on the tower will come on and sparkle for 5 minutes. It starts every hour on the hour every night. The best part is the first second it comes on, you hear everyone in park gasp. Be careful though, there are mice in the park scurrying around..but even that can’t stop it from being romantic.

Overrated: Leaning Tower of Pisa

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is fine. But it was definitely a let down when all was said and done. There’s so many people and it is the only thing in the city to see. It takes an hour to get there from Florence, you are there for about 10 minutes to take your picture and then you have to take another hour train back. The only thing I did enjoy about my experience there was watching everyone look like fools trying to get their “holding up the tower” picture.
